Holidays in Alta Badia

Nature and fun at the foot of the Dolomites

The popular tourist area of Alta Badia is the ideal place to spend your mountain holidays, whether it be in the summer or winter. What clearly sets Alta Badia apart is its natural beauty: the charm of the Dolomites and expanse of protected areas make Alta Badia an absolutely unique location for sports and outdoor activities or just for relaxing.

Another exceptional characteristic of the area, as well as all of Val Badia, is the presence of its own unique culture: the Ladin culture. Complete with its own language, traditions and customs, architecture, and cuisine; this singular culture certainly adds value and importance to our valley.

In addition to a ski area that won’t disappoint even the most demanding skier, you will find shops and services for all tastes, traditional and gourmet restaurants, sports facilities and unparalleled hospitality.

Alta Badia hosts events of international standing: the Skiing World Cup at the Gran Risa, the Marathon of the Dolomites and the Tour de Sas. There are also many events organized by the tourist association throughout the year, some of which celebrate the local culture and where you can discover a few secrets about Ladin culture.

And here are some other sites to see throughout the valley. To learn about the culture of the Ladin people and their territory, we suggest a visit to the Ladin Museum in San Martino in Badia.  While in San Cassiano, you can visit a museum dedicated to the Ursus Ladinicus (aka the Ladin bear), an ancient bear that lived in the caves of the Dolomites 30 to 60 thousand years ago.   There’s also an adventure park with activities and fun for children and adults in Colfosco.

For the adventurous who prefer activities other than skiing, the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park is the best place for snowshoeing and ski touring.

There are many opportunities to spend your winter holiday in the picturesque mountain village of La Val.
